Save our Strays is a small rescue in the North East based near Redcar. We are all volunteers and every penny raised goes to the care of the dogs.
Our aim is to rescue and re-home dogs from the pounds etc. We believe that all dogs no matter what their age or state of health should have a chance.
We are all passionate about our work and are entirely funded by public donations and fundraising.
All our dogs are fully vaccinated, micro-chipped and neutered. We do ask to do a home visit which is why we normally ask for a home to be within 60 miles of us but sometimes we do know people in different area,s to do this for us. A dog would come out on a two week trial and then if adopted we do ask for a donation of £85 to help cover some of the costs.
We do not have our own centre so although we try to have our oldies in a foster home most of the dogs are in a private boarding kennels. Luckily Pat Smith who is a champion of greyhound rescue has several of the sight hounds in her own home.

BLACKIE
This is Blackie who is a 4year old ex racing dog from Ireland. He was taken to the local dog pound by his owner who did not want him any more. Blackie came in very thin with sores on him, he has now put on some weight and is in better condition but he has been in kennels too long and really needs a loving home. He is a wonderful dog, happy in spite of every thing. He is friendly with people and other dogs, loves his walks and like most greyhounds walks well on the lead. Please do ring Jenny on 01287 619422 if you can help by offering Blackie a home. He is in a kennels in Guisborough in the North East.

PATCH

This is Patch who came to us in an odd way! Whilst visiting family in the south we were doing a poster and looking for a dog to be centre place, rescue dogs on google showed us Patch and he was in a dog pound in Hartlepool near me at home. On my return I just had to add him to our dogs in rescue! Patch is very handsome, only young and needs some training. He is very friendly although a little nervous at first. He is living with other dogs in a foster home. If you can help us find a home for Patch please ring Carol on 01642 317163.

It never ceases to amaze me how these dogs survive being so starved and continue to want human companionship. Hope they all find homes soon.

Also Blackie is well established in his new home now. Thanks. Just found out about Sallymay last night so that is great news. Sadly we still have the others and wish they could find homes.

Sadly Noel is still waiting for his forever home but just look at him now throb.gif

Noel is a beautiful lad who had the worst of starts in life (see pic on page 1) sadcry.gif

He's now about 18 months old and is an unusual lurcher - very much like a greyhound but possibly weimeraner x - with a stunning brindle colouring and amazing pale eyes rolleyes.gif

He's a good house dog, who will bark to let you know if anyone has come to the door, is good with other dogs, and loves playing... not sure about cat status tho

Due to his past experiences he needs an experienced home but he will make a wonderful addition to anyone's pack, so if you think you may have a Noel-sized space on your sofa, plesae call Pat on 01642 322239

You won't regret it thumb.gif
