Save our Strays is a small rescue in the North East based near Redcar. We are all volunteers and every penny raised goes to the care of the dogs.
Our aim is to rescue and re-home dogs from the pounds etc. We believe that all dogs no matter what their age or state of health should have a chance.
We are all passionate about our work and are entirely funded by public donations and fundraising.
All our dogs are fully vaccinated, micro-chipped and neutered. We do ask to do a home visit which is why we normally ask for a home to be within 60 miles of us but sometimes we do know people in different area,s to do this for us. A dog would come out on a two week trial and then if adopted we do ask for a donation of £85 to help cover some of the costs.
We do not have our own centre so although we try to have our oldies in a foster home most of the dogs are in a private boarding kennels. Luckily Pat Smith who is a champion of greyhound rescue has several of the sight hounds in her own home.
