KERRY GREYHOUND CONNECTION

Kerry Greyhound Connection was set up in the west of Ireland in 2002, after realising the sad fate awaiting most of these dogs when they retired from racing.
We are a small voluntary organisation based in County Kerry, Ireland and Norfolk, England and operate through a network of volunteers.

We aim to encourage the racing industry and governments to improve conditions for these dogs, and to reduce the amount of greyhounds which are bred and inevitably destroyed.
We take in, rehabilitate and find homes for unwanted Irish racing greyhounds. We also work to educate the public, and people involved in the Irish racing industry, that greyhounds make great pets.
There are some small signs of progress in Ireland, but there remains a very long way to go both with education and welfare.

We can look after approximately 35 greyhounds at any one time, in Ireland and the UK.
Each dog is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, and given a full veterinary check before being adopted.
We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in Ireland, the UK, and Europe.
We do ask for a donation towards the cost of getting the dogs ready to go to their new homes, and the transport to get them there.

We rely on public donations to enable us to carry out our work, and we are always in need of foster homes, both in Ireland and the UK. We can be contacted on 075000 62648 or via PM - please do not reply on this thread.
You can also visit our own website www.kerrygreyhounds.co.uk

Some greyhounds have *RESERVED* against their names. This means that a home offer has been made and we are waiting for the completion of a satisfactory homecheck. Enquiries can still be made for these dogs.
We also have a dog behaviourist on our team, who is able to provide help and guidance with any issues that may arise with greys in their new homes.

Thank you

LURCHER X PUPPIES

Attached Image: TheCompleteSet2.jpg

Rescued from unsuitable living conditions and with a bleak future ahead of them these gorgeous Lurcher X puppies are now looking for loving homes. Bethany, Dottie, Daisy, and Timmy are approx. 10 weeks old and are the most gentle of pups. They just love to be cuddled, and will quite happily bury their heads under your chin, or snuggle up to your chest. Bethany is probably the largest of the four, and the most adventurous. Timmy is the cutest, tiniest of the litter! Mum was a lurcher, and we think these babies may have some Pointer markings in them. When they first arrived into rescue they were very malnourished with wormy bellies, but with excellent care and proper food have become healthier, happier puppies. If you would like to adopt one of these adorable hounds then please don't hesitate to contact us as we are sure they won't be waiting long!

FINBAR

Attached Image: Fin3.jpg

Found wandering in a field, and clearly suffering from mange, this lovely boy unfortunately found his way into the Pound before being taken out by a KGC supporter. Finbar is a male lurcher, approx. 15 months old, who deserves to be in a family home. He is undergoing intensive treatment for the mange, and already in just 2 weeks there has been a vast improvement, no more itching and his skin that was originally red, inflamed, and with broken sores is healing well. Finbar has a fantastic personality, is very affectionate and gentle, loves to be with people, and he is also quite content to be left on his own. He travels extremely well in the car, and is well behaved when near other dogs, but seems quite keen to chase/play with cats. Finbar is still slightly underweight, and so will be neutered once he has gained a few more pounds. He is currently in a foster home where he has his very own bachelor pad! Although he is not quite ready for his forever home Finbar can be reserved following a successful homecheck.
