Mena

http://www.limerickanimalwelfare.ie/img/dogs/Jul10_Willomena.jpg

Willimena or Mena for short, is a two year old greyhound who was rescued from being put to sleep. She has a lovely personality and will make a lovely pet. All she longs for is a home to call her own. Mena loves getting out in the grassy paddocks to lounge in the sunshine and she also enjoys her walks! As you can see from the pic below her coat was in a bad state when she came into us but with good food (yummy Arden Grange) and a spoon of cod liver oil each day, she's quickly turning into a shiny black beauty!

Rua

http://www.limerickanimalwelfare.ie/img/dogs/Jul10_Rua.jpg

This smashing lad is Rua, which is the Irish for "red." Rua came to LAW from his owners. Sadly they've had to part with him as they are emigrating to the other side of the world and could not take him with them. We promised to find him a safe new home where he will be spoilt rotten and get loads of walks. Rua is very friendly and so outgoing. He is large, about two years old and has a lovely wired-haired coat. As lurchers go, Rua ia rather a dishy boy!

LONG STAY DOG: Lurch

http://www.limerickanimalwelfare.ie/img/dogs/Jul10_Lurch.jpg

Poor Lurch, despite being one of the nicest dogs in our care, he's our longest-stay dog at the moment, simply because he's big, he's black, and he's a boy! :thumb: Lurch
is an absolute gentleman and so gentle. Friendly and loving with everyone he meets, and a star with other dogs, big and small. We always kennel our greys and lurchers in pairs, and Lurch is here so long he has shown a long succession of sighthound girlies the ropes! He loves another doggy to curl up with at night. Lurch is about three years old. 3 yrs old. He walks well on a lead and loves lying out in the sunshine (when we have sunshine!)

Out on a group walk with some of our volunteers - that's Lurch second from the right

BB

http://www.limerickanimalwelfare.ie/img/dogs/Jul10_BB.jpg

Cute BB is a petite lurcher girl, fun of fun and vitality! She gets along well with everyone and is the first dog to try and jump in your arms in the morning! :thumb: She's currently kenneled with Rua, our big rough-coated lurcher lad. BB is a typical norty lurcher girlie who keeps everyone on their toes and laughing at her antics!

Kitty

http://www.limerickanimalwelfare.ie/img/dogs/Kitty_June10.jpg

Kitty is another greyhound lady who came to us in poor enough condition - you can see her coat is brown and it's blowing, when it should be black and sleek! We are fixing that with good food and a dab of cod liver oil each day. Kitty is a real lady - she just has a very elegant air about her and we love her very much. Kitty is an ex-racer and she's four years old. She loves the company of other dogs and shares her kennel with her beau, Lurch! :thumb: (Poor Lurch is with us for such a long time. He seems to be the the companion to help many dogs to settle into kennel life.) Kitty is very sociable and loves people - you should see the big toothy grin she gives to visitors! She's going to be a wonderful family pet.

Barnabus

http://www.limerickanimalwelfare.ie/img/dogs/Jul10_Barnabus.jpg

Barnabus is a three year old ex-racing greyhound who failed to run fast enough on the track. His owner did not want him anymore so our chairperson who has a big heart took him in to help find him a nice pet home. Barnie's kennel buddy Master Mc Grath recently travelled over to Greyhound Friends in Boston in seach of a new home so now more than ever we are anxious to find this big lad a loving home with a big couch for him to lounge on!

Liam

http://www.limerickanimalwelfare.ie/img/dogs/Jul10_Liam.jpg

Liam is a darling young lurcher, a sweet cheeky chappy who loves other dogs. He's only twelve months old and was dumped by his owner outside our sanctuary gate.
He suffered a fracture to his leg at some point but this has now healed and our vet tells us this will not hold Liam back - he just needs to rest it for a few weeks. It's sad to have such a young dog in kennels so we hope he finds a new mum or dad soon. He's really friendly and outgoing. He currently shares a kennel with our special brindle girl Elsie and is busy teaching her that other dogs can be a lot of fun to hang out with! Liam's an absolute sweetheart. :thumb:

Jay D.

http://www.limerickanimalwelfare.ie/img/dogs/June10_J.D.jpg

This is the stunning Jay D., she is an ex-racing greyhound although you would never think it when you meet her as she is definitely going to make a wonderful pet dog. She loves her cuddles and is great with other dogs. Jay D. has the eyes of a godess. Who could resist this loving grey?

Arden

http://www.limerickanimalwelfare.ie/img/Arden_July7.jpg

Arden is a beautiful black lurcher who LAW rescued recently after he was hit by a car and flung into a ditch. You can read his full story here:

http://www.sighthoundsonline.org.uk/forums...showtopic=27009

Arden is a sweetheart who is fast learning to love rubs and cuddles. He likes other dogs and he LOVES toys! He had to go to an orthopaedic specialist in Dublin to have a plate in his pelvis as the fracture was complex. He is on rest now for another few weeks but would be ready for a home soon after, once he's neutered and finished his vaccinations. Life has not been easy for Arden up to now and we dearly hope that he won't become a "sticky dog" and will find that loving new home he deserves really soon!
