I've also posted this on SGS

I was driving through Pumpherston this afternoon when I saw this little lurcher running across the road. I pulled over straight away, got out the car, went across the road, did wee kissy noises and said, "hello sweetie".

I was greeted by the waggiest tail and softest face, such beautiful eyes.

I melted (IMG:http://www.sighthoundsonline.org.uk/forums/style_emoticons/default/wub.gif)

She had a collar on but no tag. It looks like there's been something written on her collar at some point but it's so worn it can't be made out.

I looked around and couldn't see anybody else around that'd be looking for her (plenty folk sitting in parked cars watching but doing nothing - hope they can sleep tonight  ). Phoned the council, the lines were busy so I left a message with my name and number and why I was calling. Opened the boot of my car - this wee baby was wagging her tail gently as if to say, "oh am I getting a ride in the car?! how fab!".

Brought her home and gave her some food. She was hungry. She's a bit on the thin side ... well, a wee bit more than a bit ... a wee bit smelly but more a kind of musty smell than a dog smell ... I do wonder if she's had pups not so long ago ... her coat is thick, like kennel coat and her skin is very dry and flaky, lots of hair coming off her. Strangely though her nails were nice and short.

My youngest son and I took her for a wee walk while we were waiting for the warden phoning. Ended up phoning again as they didn't call back. They said they thought the dog warden was away to the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home and wouldn't be back through today so they asked me to take her to Livingston Police Station and said they would contact the dog warden and arrange pick up from there.

So we took her to the police station - where she was winning everybody over with her pretty face and waggy tail

The police were really lovely with her. They said they themselves would take her to Edinburgh and that if she didn't get claimed she'd go to Dogs Trust.

She was only with me for a couple of hours but when I got back into the car after dropping her off at the police station I burst into tears. She's an absolute sweetiepie and deserves to be in a loving home - she has so much love to give. My son's awfly sad too - he'd got very attached to her too.

Anyway - I took a photos of her. Here she is

Not easy to see exactly how thin she is because of her colouring and my rotten camera on my phone

Be safe baby (IMG:http://www.sighthoundsonline.org.uk/forums/style_emoticons/default/grouphug.gif)
