The dogs featured on this page are just a selection of those in the care of GRWE at the moment. We have between 60-70 dogs in our care at any one time and so, of course, cannot feature them all here. I will keep this section up to date as much as I can, but on occasions you may find that some of the dogs may have been lucky enough to find homes.

As we look after so many dogs, we are almost certain to have a dog that would be suitable for you, so please, if you are interested in offering a home to a greyhound or lurcher, contact us today, and we will put you in touch with a Homing Officer in your area - Thanks.

As a charity, GRWE is very fortunate to have a group of experienced volunteers who support the rescue and rehoming process, as well as organising events to raise awareness and funds. We have no paid employees and do not own any kennels.

GRWE receives no financial support from the greyhound racing authorities towards the welfare of the very dogs that underpin this whole industry. We rely totally on the support of the public for donations to pay for the cost of caring for the dogs. Our major expenses are the hire of kennel space, and veterinary fees.

The geographical area covered by GRWE is dependent upon our financial and human resources, and at present includes all the counties from Cornwall, across to Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and northwest to Cheshire.

At any one time we are caring for between 60 and 70 dogs. Homechecks are always carried out first, and around 500 dogs were placed into suitable loving homes last year. For an entirely voluntary organisation this is a remarkable achievement of which we are justifiably proud.

Some of the dogs which we have in our care take us a little longer to place than others. There may be many reasons why a dog is with us for a longer time, but during the time that the dog is with us, we are constantly assessing it and of course, looking out for a suitable home for it. Some of the dogs featured here may have been badly treated, some do not respond well towards other dogs, others may have issues relating to humans. GRWE has a strict non-destruction policy and we will not have a dog put to sleep unless we are advised to do so by a vet because of health reasons, or if we consider that we cannot rehome the dog safely.

We have an open and honest policy about all of the dogs we are rehoming, and we will tell the prospective home all the background information we possess on the dog.

Please telephone - 07000 785092

Or

Send rehoming emails to the following address: rehome@grwe.com

Please send the following details, when emailing your rehoming enquiry - your name, your email address, your contact telephone number, your location (County) and of course your message.

GRWE does not sell dogs or make any charge for adoption. On average it costs around £400 to look after each dog until adoption, including kennelling & veterinary care. We receive no help from the racing industry or the government. All dogs will be vax'd, neutered and microchipped prior to rehoming. In the case of puppies you will have to sign to agree to neuter the pup at a certain age, we do follow up home visits.

Any donation you wish to make will be gratefully received and will go towards helping more dogs have the chance of a loving home.

I will try and keep this thread as updated as possible but it is always worth calling or checking our website www.grwe.com for an up-to-date list - although not all of our dogs will be on the site....most of the ones featured on our website will be current.....

Jet is yet another oldie waiting for his first chance at a home.

Jet raced for four years and then was kept by his owner into his retirement - though still in a kennel. His owner is now too ill to care for the dogs and Jet has been rather overlooked of late but he is still a lovely happy and adorable boy.

Jet is nine years old and will be a great boy to own, he has a jolly personality and a very much glass half full. He doesn’t feel sorry for himself and nor should you, just come and meet him, offer him a home and let him enjoy his golden years.

There’s plenty of life in this old dog yet!
