Due to UK government restrictions regarding rabies laws it may sometimes be necessary to wait a short time for your hound to be able to come and live with you. During this period we will give you as much honest insight as possible in to the character of your new pet to be and will send you photographs showing his/her progress.
We undertake to get your dog across the channel but some travel may well be expected of you within the UK to meet up with us and collect your new family member.
All our dogs are blood screened for Mediterranean diseases, neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped and all are treated for internal and external parasites.
All potential new homes will be subject to a home-check and we ask for a set donation fee in order to help cover our veterinary/travel costs.
For any further information please email us at info@ibizanhoundrescue.com.

Gabriela is a stunning little Podenco Maneto (miniature podenco). She was found by the side of the road very sick just before Christmas. She was full of cooked chicken bones and spent 2 nights on a drip with a local vet. The lady who found and rescued her is very kindly fostering her on behalf Ibizan Hound Rescue.
Gabby loves the warmth of the fire and her home comforts. She is great with other dogs and also lives with cats. She is a real sweetie and a total cuddle monster. She is only a tiny tot at 7 kilos but what she lacks in stature she makes up for in the love and personality that she exudes. She is undergoing some basic training in her foster home and is going to make super addition to somebody's household.
Microchipped, blood tested for Mediterranean diseases, vaccinated.

Capo was found wandering by the side of the road. Thin and bewildered, he had almost certainly been left behind by the weekend's hunters - most probably because they had decided he did not meet the necessary requirements to be a hunting dog.
Capo is a very sweet natured boy and he is very eager to please..... but is still a little too unsure to know just how to do this. He so wants to be in the house with us but still finds it a huge step to walk in through the door and so Capo is still working that one out! It is still early days for him in his new life and given a little time and encouragement he will make what is for him the huge adjustment of living in a home rather than an old pen/kennel in the middle of nowhere.
He is very affectionate and loves to be cuddled and petted. He is a playful boy and is great with other dogs. Capo has the softest coat I have ever stroked, short haired but luxuriously thick.
Microchipped, blood tested for Mediterranean diseases, vaccinated.

Martha is a dainty little podenco who was found wondering in the campo with her mother. She came to Ibizan Hound Rescue via another rescue where she was facing a "put to sleep" situation as they could not cope with the number of dogs they had. Thankfully we were alerted in time to save this little gem and her mother Mabel.
Martha is a young, intelligent little dog. She loves her bed or your lap. She has the typical friendly character of a Podenco, loves life, people, other dogs, even my vet!
She has been clean in the house ever since she arrived in her foster home, (had a bath straight away as she must have rolled in something very nasty before she came here). Seriously we have had no accidents in the house whatsoever, and she is only a baby.
Microchipped, blood tested for Mediterranean diseases, Vaccinated.

This stunning Ibizan Hound was found straying on the beach in Almeria, Spain. He is a very timid boy and was fed by a Dutch couple for months before they could actually corner him and catch him. Behind his timid nature there lies a cheeky character just bursting to shine. The Dutch couple first met Renzo when he pinched the lady's handbag and ran off with it!!! The poor husband had to give chase until Renzo dropped the bag. It must have made a connection because Renzo stayed around their home. What a great decision he unwittingly made as they cared for and looked out for him until they could catch him and bring him to us.
He arrived in our care as a very timid boy and underweight, he still needs to gain 4 or 5 kilos. There is now plenty of time in which to build up his weight whilst he awaits his ticket to the UK. Renzo is still very nervous and it is still a challenge getting his lead on him. Yet once he is on the lead he will walk very well. He is very friendly with all other dogs and plays and runs with them with great confidence. He is however still very timid with people he does not know. Within a couple of days of arriving at his foster home he has started to be inquisitive and much more relaxed. A lot of effort will be put in to helping Renzo overcome the fears that haunt him from his previous life but it is fair to say that it is highly likely that this boy will always be nervous of new people and new situations.
He will need an understanding family to help him "dig deep" in such situations and will be best homed with at least one other dog to help his confidence.
Microchipped, blood tested for Mediterranean diseases, vaccinated.

We collected Mabel from another rescue centre just before she was due to be put to sleep. Thank goodness we were alerted to this lovely girl's plight in time. She was originally found wondering in the campo with what we think is her daughter and what a pathetic, very skinny pair they were.
Yet she has come on in leaps and bounds in her foster home, putting on weight gently, she eats her food slowly almost savouring every mouthful.
As she gains in confidence she is slowly coming out of her shell. She watches everything and constantly looks to you to see and check that all is okay. It has taken 2 months for her to realise that it is now okey to play and she is starting to show a sweet, cheeky side to her nature.
Mabel will flourish in to a truly wonderful dog just given a little love, time and stability. She has been given a second chance at life and just needs a loving family to help her grasp at that with all four paws.
Microchipped, blood tested for Mediterranean diseases, (results not back yet) Vaccinated.

Chica was found in a very poor state. She was extremely underweight and had an old injury to her pelvic area. Xrays have shown some old damage to her lower back/pelvis but extensive examinations by our vet and observations from her foster dad lead us to believe that she suffers no pain whatsoever from this.
She is a cheeky, intelligent girl and loves her foster dad and the GSP with whom she shares her foster home. Chica loves her home comforts and thoroughly enjoys her walks though she does require some recall training.
She is a lovely, young Ibizan Hound with the most beautiful amber coloured eyes. Chica can travel to the UK after April 2011.
Microchipped, blood tested and neutered.

and i am very glad he has been caught
I saw him several times on the edge of town
I kept stopping but he would run every time down on to the rambler that goes under the bridge at the edge of town
I have not seen him for a long time now so very pleased to see him on the list
By the look of the wounds on his neck it looks like he may well have been hung and managed to get away
