Please remember that Sighthounds Online forums are privately owned and access and account membership are at the discretion of the forums’ administrators.

Sighthounds Online exists to raise awareness of sighthounds in all their guises: family pets, abused ex-racers, abandoned working dogs etc.

We also try to help the people who work so hard in rescues to re-home the homeless, nurture the abused and injured and rehabilitate the traumatised. We do this mainly by raising funds for them.

We also hold a register of volunteers.

We campaign against the Greyhound racing industry, do not advocate working homes for sighthounds and are categorically opposed to puppy farms and all kinds of indiscriminate, irresponsible breeding of sighthounds, indeed of all dogs.

The Rules

You agree not to post messages or send any Personal Messages/E-mails that are knowingly false or defamatory or which are abusive, offensive, threatening, harassing or obscene. (Please contact us immediately if you feel that such a message has been posted by clicking the 'report a post to a moderator' button or contacting an admin via pm or E-mail).

We will not tolerate posts and/or photographs discussing hunting in any form - this is not negotiable and all such posts will be deleted and the poster placed under moderation.

You accept that Sighthounds Online can accept no responsibility for the accuracy of any posts to the board. Neither can we guarantee the completeness or usefulness of any message. As with all sites on the Internet, please be careful.

You understand that the forums are strictly non-profiting and cannot be used for the sale of any animals including dogs or puppies.

You agree not to advertise commercial services or websites without permission. Users may not use the board to promote any website with which they are directly connected by posting URLs to that site without permission. The only exceptions are rescue organisations and links that are already listed on the sighthound organisations and/or links pages. If you wish to post a suitable link please contact an administrator.

You accept that posted messages express the views of the individual poster and may or may not correspond with the views of Sighthounds Online. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by email or personal message. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so as soon as possible, if we deem that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately.

You understand that Sighthounds Online must also reserve the right to reveal your identity (or whatever information we know about you) in the event of legal action arising from any message posted by you. All data that is passed to and from the server is logged and subject to review.

You agree that Sighthounds Online reserves the right to reproduce, edit, remove, or distribute any post contained in the Sighthounds Online forums. All posts become the property of Sighthounds Online, except when copyrighted material is posted (and hence properly cited).

You agree that chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are inappropriate in the Sighthounds Online Community forums.

You realise that there is no absolute right to make posts to the board and any post may be edited or deleted at the sole discretion of the moderating team.

Remember that we have some very young members who are under 16, so please do not post anything that would be unsuitable for them.

Please respect the privacy of others. Do not post others’ phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, pictures, etc., without their permission.

You agree not to indulge in spamming or contacting of SOL members in order to persuade them to buy goods or participate in activities on other boards.

You agree not to approach SOL members in order to persuade them to join other groups/lists/forums. This is a form of spamming.

If you feel that any of the above guidelines have been breached please contact an Administrator or Moderator immediately. Rules of these forums are subject to change but members will be notified.
