Gun Control Network is aware of thousands of cases of animal cruelty involving the use of airguns. They and other animal welfare groups are campaigning to have all airguns registered. They believe registration will help limit access to these guns, so only responsible individuals over 18 can have them. Under current legislation 'low powered" airguns do not need to be registered. They are bought and sold without any background checks and thousands of domestic pets, dogs, cats, farm animals, wild animals, birds including swans, geese, gulls, doves and pigeons are killed and injured every year in random acts of cruelty. Visit www.gun-control-network.org to see details of these and other incidents.
