Fundraising

An important part of Sighthounds Online from the beginning has been fundraising - it is this that allows us to make grants to help rescues. To date, most fundraising has been done online with auctions, competitions and raffles. Auctions in particular have proved to be very successful with the amounts raised showing a steady increase each time and they are probably our most popular online event too. We are fortunate to have the support of a few businesses who donate prizes and auction items and sometimes a percentage from the sale of their products.

Forum members are able to sign up annually to be a SOL Mate and receive additional forum services and a SOL Mates pack, all for £7 which goes into the SOL Emergency Fund to provide a sum of money to help Rescues who may suddenly find themselves with medical or other expenses.

In 2005 we had our first fundraising events away from the Internet, a 'Meet and Greet' at Pets at Home in Cardiff proving particularly successful. We hope to increase this kind of activity, especially as it gives our members a good opportunity to meet each other face-to-face.
