Part of the aims of Sighthounds Online is to educate and raise public awareness about welfare issues relating to Sighthounds

There are five issues with which Sighthounds Online is particularly concerned:

Tougher Animal Welfare Laws - the laws in this country leave the Police and Welfare organisations helpless to prevent neglect and abuse.

Greyhound Racing - thousands of racing Greyhounds are killed every year or subjected to abuse and neglect due to the Greyhound Racing Industry. read more ...

Puppy Farming - the mass breeding of pedigree and increasingly fashionable crosses by people to whom the only motivation is money. The result is Rescues full of unwanted dogs, weak and sickly puppies and neglect and abuse of dogs used as nothing more than breeding machines. read more ...

The Irish Problem - Sighthounds Online is committed to helping Irish Rescues who are inundated with unwanted, abandoned and abused Greyhounds, many bred to feed the English Racing Industry.

Spanish Greyhounds - Spanish Greyhounds or Galgos are traditionally hung at the end of the Coursing season and many are abandoned in appalling conditions. Sighthounds Online have been proud to show our support for the rescues working in Spain to save these dogs and lobby the Government into enforcing animal welfare legislation. read more ...
